Il libro è illustrato con più di mille disegni realizzati da Luigi Serafini tra il 1976 e il 1978. Il Codex è un'enciclopedia surreale scritta in una grafia indecifrabile che reinterpreta in chiave fantastica e visionaria le più disparate branche dello scibile umano.

Bound in black silk with gilt titles and decorations on cover and spine, printed on Fabriano paper. Foreword by Italo Calvino. Both volumes are in fine condition. Probably the most famous of the titles published by Franco Maria Ricci and surely the most unusual. A masterpiece of fantasy painstakingly illustrating a non-existent world and written in a non-existent language which, at times, seems to be a surrealist parody of our own world.
